Managing your child’s digital experience across different platforms can be challenging, especially when your child uses an iOS device and you have an Android.
With Superr, you can bridge this gap but there are two main steps to get started:
Create an Apple ID for yourself (the parent), which you can do directly from your Android device by visiting apple.com.
Turn on Family Sharing on an Apple device. You have two options for this:
If you have access to a Mac or iPad, you can set up Family Sharing there.
If not, you can use your child’s or spouse’s iOS device, following the steps provided below.
Below, you’ll find detailed instructions for both scenarios, so you can choose the method that works best for your family.
Step 1: Create an Apple ID for Yourself
You’ll need an Apple ID to act as the Family Sharing organizer. You can create this account from your Android device by going to appleid.apple.com and following the instructions to sign up for a new Apple ID.
Step 2: Turn on Family Sharing
Unfortunately, due to Apple limitations, Family Sharing cannot be set up directly from your Android device. Apple requires the family organizer to use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to create the initial Family Sharing group.
Additonally, you need to check whether your child is currently using a child account or not.
For this,
1. Open the Settings app
2. Tap on the child's name/Apple ID
3. Tap on Personal Information
4. Look at the Birthday.
If the age is 17 or below, then your child is using a child account. Else, they are using an adult account in which case, you will need to create a new Apple account for them by following the steps below.
Depending on the devices available to you, choose one of the following options:
Option 1: Using a Mac or iPad
If you have access to a Mac or iPad, follow these steps:
On a Mac:
Open System Settings (or System Preferences) and click on your Apple ID at the top.
Select “Family Sharing” from the sidebar.
Click “Set Up Family,” then follow the prompts to create your Family Sharing group.
After setting up Family Sharing, tap “Add Family Member” > “Create a Child Account.”
Enter the child’s name and date of birth (children under 13 require parental consent and a credit card for verification).
Agree to the terms and set up an iCloud email address for the child if needed.
Configure parental controls, such as Screen Time and Ask to Buy, during this process.
On an iPad:
Open the Settings app and tap your Apple ID at the top.
Tap “Family Sharing,” then select “Set Up Your Family.”
Follow the on-screen instructions to add your child’s Apple ID.
Once Family Sharing is set up, you can proceed to install and configure Superr on your child’s iOS device.
Option 2: Using Your Child’s or Spouse’s iOS Device
If you don’t have access to a Mac or iPad, you can use your child’s or spouse’s iOS device. Follow these steps (as previously outlined):
Access your child’s iOS device. If your child is already signed in with their Apple ID, sign out via the Settings app.
Sign in with your newly created Apple ID to act as the Family Sharing organizer.
Go to Settings, tap your Apple ID at the top, and select “Family Sharing.” Set up Family Sharing and follow the prompts.
Invite your child’s Apple ID to join the Family Sharing group if he already has a child account or Create a child account for him if he is currently using an account that has an age that is 18 or above.
Once Family Sharing is set up, sign out of your parent Apple ID and sign back in with your child’s Apple ID.
If you sent an invitation to the child account, accept the invitation from child’s Apple account settings or their email.
Step 3: Install and Set Up Superr
With Family Sharing configured, if you have installed and set up the Parents' app on your phone, now you can download and install Superr Child app on your child’s iOS device and follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup.
Step 4: Manage from Your Android Device
Install Superr on your Android device and select Parent Mode. You can now monitor and manage your child’s device from anywhere, using your Superr account.
Pro Tip: Avoid enabling “Ask to Buy” on the child’s device to streamline app installations without requiring constant parent approval.
With these steps, Superr gives you comprehensive oversight and peace of mind, regardless of which device you use. Your child’s safety stays in your hands, and the process is simpler than you might expect.
Important Note:
Due to Apple’s limitations, certain parental controls—such as choosing which apps are allowed during routines, setting app limits, and viewing your child’s usage insight must be managed directly from your child’s iOS device. These features cannot be configured or viewed from your own (parent’s) device.
