Can my child get extra time on an app once the usage limit is reached?
Can my child get extra time on an app once the usage limit is reached?
Updated over a week ago

Yes! When using a limited app and there’s 5 minutes left, the kids get a notification informing them that there’s only 5 minutes of remaining time to use the app. From this notification, the kids can make a request to you to get extra time so they can finish what they are doing. Or, they can also make a request from the block screen that shows up once they have used up all of their limit for the day.

  • If your child requests an extra 5 minutes to use a non-social media app, they can get it instantly without needing your approval through a self-grant system up to three times per week. However, once they've used it three times in a week, this option becomes unavailable, although you can still grant extra time if you wish to. Note that you can turn this off in the notification you receive when your child requests 5 minutes of extra usage time.

  • For requests longer than 5 minutes, your kids can’t get the extension unless you grant it!

Note that unlike the free time limit, which you can extend from your side whenever you want, the app limit extension can only be done when your kids request it.
